Todays Rant: Tomb of Primeval Kings
After completing the tombs with my ranger time after time i became bored, then like magic the next day factions came out hoorah. I wont bore you on my, lets say, rather negative views on factions as a game, however low and behold this hugely versatile proffession is born, know as the assassin(Rit is awesome too, havent tested it much tho).
Now after making my critical barrager assassin i ventured off to the tomb of primeval kings expecting for people to throw themselves at my feet and beg them to join thier party, due to my insane energy regen, high damage and the little bonus of added bleeding.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
I struggle to find a party, when i HAVE found the extremely rare party leader who knows what critical barrager is, the rest of the team go "OMG OMG NOOB ASASIN KICK HIM OR I LEAVE" and thus it ends with me partyless or a destroyed party. I wish they could at least learn how to spell "asasin" before they shun me.
What is wrong with people? why do they refuse to try new things? or even listen to someone else before they write them off? If you ever see "Nataku Mononoke" running around the the tombs looking very angry then please invite me.

Who said i was a farmer? I dont do the tombs for the money, i've just completed all the storylines with my characters and think it makes a chance from the mundane ABs and Team arenas. Frankly the elite missions, tombs of kings and the underworld are the only decent things to do once you've completed the game in my eyes.

It's because the majority of people who play the Assassin are generally playing like an Ass which is unfortunately why no one wants you.
I suggest you make a team of crit barragers for tombs and post some screenshots of what you're capable of, only way to get people to change their minds.

If you haven't noticed; the assassin happens to be the most hated creature in all of Tyria and Cantha atm. I agree that they can be good, but people just wont let them into their hearts . Soon enough everyone will be hating the Dervish even more (some already are) and take some attention off the sins.

Its not their fault (not 100% at least ^^)...I TOO have an assassin (thought I don’t like it critical barrager since a first class ranger does A LOT more dmg and have infinite energy already with a zealous bow) and the class is hated everywhere I go.
Two things makes this happen:
1. a LOTTTTTT of people went for assassin first back when Factions was released, even thought they didn’t know the first thing about the game, SO this makes like 30 assassins per outpost, and 29 of those are completely stupid players that are simply a waste of the monks energy...
2. nowadays the hate towards assassins had grown a LOT because of "1", and this way there are not "cookie - cutter" builds that include the class, AND since 99% of the players of Guild Wars knows NOTHING but these builds and DO NOT try ANYTHING new EVER (especially on Urgoz, Deep and Tombs) they simply won’t accept sins on parties.
Nowadays I simply gave up of joining "non - guildies" parties at all, AND I gather most of my fun playing my sin actually soloing stuff!!! This because sins are NOT PVE made, and taking 2 or 3 mobs at once require a LOT more strategic thinking then doing it with a warrior or so...farming greens with my sin is a blast
IF u ever consider soloing and all, I would recommend you starting with Xuekao, his green does not worth much, BUT its kind of tricky to kill him alone with the sin and its a lot of fun (and fast since his just outside of the outpost portal).
Latter.

I've spent a lot of time in Tombs with my Ranger, though not so much lately. I'd be more than willing to team up with you. I've never been with a critical barrager and would like to see the build in action. PM me and we'll try to get a team together.

Every sin who can kill that guy solo, is a good sin. I have done it, and it wasn't easy
The dagger is worth about 5K on open noob market, and some even think it's leet. It's worth it

You do Tombs over and over as a barrage ranger for fun?
Besides, you're complaining about not being allowed in farming teams. That's all there is at Tombs.

I did. With a good group, it's a blast. Yeah, I made a ton of money at the same time, but is that a bad thing?

I think you'll find the issue isn't about farming or tombs or even ranger skills. The sad reality is it's because of the Assassin part, which seems to be tremendously unwanted/unpopular at least in PvE.
The other day I even saw a monk at Nahpui "lfg that has no/smallest number of assassins". I made an assassin soon after release but deleted it as just couldn't get into groups. There are many threads on this but the concise version is: assassins have a stigma to them now, mainly as a result of lots of them trying to tank and dying. It looks like that stigma is here to stay, regardless of how good individual players may be at being an assassin.
Since it would be foolish to "educate the community" because forums are only a small percent of players; one "fix" could be to increase armour levels a little bit so they're not so fragile, another might be to add a teleport skill or two in the early game so new assassins learn to use those (i.e. change the tutorials so it does a step by step how to do hit'n'run rather than try to tank). However, since campaign characters won't get new skills etc in future I hold no hope for such an improvement.
I don't know why but I just have this hunch Dervish might go a similar route, unless their ability to kill/tank is by default better than their ability to die

Just a thought... if afflicted didn't explode would assassins still be hated that much? I had the impression that it was that explosion that killed most of them, rather than their tankability, or lack of. And seeing as we ran into afflicted very early in factions, it would sort of make sense.
*is waiting till nightfall to pull her assassin out again*

Problems with a Critical Barrager in the Tombs...
1. No Spirits. Lack of ranger runes make your Favorable Winds and Winnowing just plain weaker and not worth carrying into Tombs. That makes you a liability to a team that wants backup spirits.
2. No Rebirth. The Tombs is one of those sticky places where, if you have one stupid move, half the party could get wiped.
3. Weaker armor. Again, if your MM has problems/gets killed, you are the next line of defense and, honestly, rangers are much more durable.
4. Mass Bleeding. Not so effective in Tombs, given the massive health of the enemies you're facing.
5. Energy. I've never heard of a Barrage ranger in Tombs with energy problems.

There's a difference between pugplay and normal play.
Pugplay: LFP, PLF Something blah blah
In pugplay people seem to be looking for what a profession is expected to do like...
- Warrior has to be a tank
- Ele has to be a nuker
- Necro has to be MM
- Monk has to be healer
- Rit has to do whatever, as long as he makes spirits pop up and does funky moves
- Ranger, assassin and mesmer seem to be the ones who are in the gray zone (unless ranger is barrage)
Now, what happens in pugplay is this:
- The warrior with mending, defences and other poop doesn't get hit at all because people just swarm around like mosquitos "I'm a good warrior because i'm the last one to die!!!"
- The nuker ele spams firestorms everywhere and people go "good nuking!!!"
- The necro summons 6 level 10 vampiric horrors and a mini flesh golem and people go like "lolz, it's a zoo out here XD!!!"
- The monk spams healing breezes and is like "I NEEDZ TEH ENERGIEZ"
... (the difference between the examples above and the examples below it that the ones above are predictable. You know that the ele is going to be nuker of some kind, the warrior will be some kind of semi-immortal thing, the necro will pump out minions and the monk will attempt to do some healing. Nobody knows what on earth a mesmer does, how to play alongside an assassin or care about which spirits are being deployed----> people would rather have lots of these guys than they would have assassins)
- The ranger is like "zomg nubs, lemme show you with my scouting powah" *pull*
- The rit is like "yo"
- The mesmer is like "mesmers kick ass but people are too stupid to know that" and then attempts to wand everything to death using absolutely zero things on his skillbar... except echo breeze
- And the assassin is like *WHOOSH* *SPLAT* "rez me noobs!"
^This information should be old news but for some reason, people seem to not see that other people have complained about this before so they don't know that pugging = asking for trouble.
If you play with fire, don't complain if it burns you X.x

LMAO!!!
I can't stop laughing, only because it's so freaking true. I'm sorry, there are some really good Sins out there, but the majority of time this has been my experience. Still, my offer stands.
EDIT to add --> OMG, I'm still laughing. I can't stop. Must be because I'm so tired.
